In a show of support for Pride Month, a Veterans Park in a small Maine town raised the rainbow flag alongside the American flag, POW/MIA flag, and Maine’s state flag. John Mixon, a local veteran, has raised such a fuss over the issue a town meeting is now being called to discuss the flag.
Despite many U.S. veterans being members of the LGBT+ community, Mixon said it had no place in the park, calling it “a travesty.”
“I was absolutely shocked,” Mixon told WMUR9. “I couldn’t believe that someone was even considering it.”
