Same-Sex Couples Living Together in the U.K. has Increased by 53%

A new statistic by The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has come to light showing that the amount of same-sex couples living together in the U.K. has increased by over 50% since 2015. In 2015 152,000 same-sex couples were living together and in 2018 that number has increased to 232,000.

The same statistic also showed that there has been an increase of same-sex couples living together getting married with now a 29.4% rate as opposed to only 8.9% in 2015.

Sophie Sanders, the head of demographics analysis at the ONS said: “We’re also generally seeing increasing acceptance of same-sex relationships so people may feel more comfortable to say they are living together.”
