University of Minnesota to launch first-of-its-kind LGBTQ health elective

July 19, 2018

The University of Minnesota has announced it will launch an LGBTQ health elective for its students, becoming the first medical school in the United States to do so. Into reports that the University will seek advice from Family Tree Clinic and the Pride Institute, both LGBT+ organisations, to write the curriculum.

Only six students have signed up for the class so far, but the university expects many more to follow as the importance of LGBT-specific healthcare becomes more apparent.
