Below Stairs LGBTQ Poetry Night - REGISTER 

You are invited to join us at one of Soho’s most beautiful and unique venues, Blacks Club on Dean Street, for a night of spoken word presented with pride!

Special guests include stand-up poet Annabelzski, creator of the show Professional Breakup Artist, and premiering her new show Smashing at the Brighton Fringe and RVT this summer. Hosted by poet, author and compere Sophia Blackwell, with poetry from novelist, poet and performance specialist Namita Elizabeth Chakrabarty.

THERE ARE 5 OPEN MIC SLOTS AVAILABLE for GWN members and friends. Please contact Sophia on [email protected] and send a written or video sample of your work before performance can be confirmed. Sophia is happy to talk through your work beforehand. Slots are limited to 5 minutes.

Everyone is welcome and the event is free – just make sure you RSVP for the guest list otherwise entry cannot be guaranteed. Space is limited so book fast and notify us of any cancellations.

Where possible, please include your guests’ full names as a separate entry rather than adding a Plus One. This helps on the door – thank you for your consideration in advance!

Rules and Info:

- No filming in the club, particularly outside the performance space. If a performer wishes to be filmed by a friend for showreels or watch-backs, this should be fine but please check with Sophia before performing or filming begins. Please don’t film performers without their consent

- Show starts at 8pm and doors open at 7.30. You are welcome to hang out and get drinks beforehand, but don’t expect the show to start as soon as you come to the Club!

- Dress code smart casual – no bringing in outside food or drink

- Blacks is a very old building and the performance area is on the second floor, involving stairs to access it
