Promoting and supporting diversity in the workplace is an important aspect of good people management - it’s about valuing everyone in the organisation as an individual. However, to reap the benefits of a diverse workforce it’s vital to have an inclusive environment where everyone feels able to participate and achieve their potential. While UK legislation – covering age, disability, race, religion, gender and sexual orientation among others – sets minimum standards, an effective diversity and inclusion strategy goes beyond legal compliance and seeks to add value to an organisation, contributing to employee well-being and engagement.

Join us for this insightful and interactive session on Diversity & Inclusion where a series of D&I professionals will be sharing their key learning points on how we can tackle this area to build more inclusive workplaces.

Ciprian Arhire - Projects and Programmes Executive at CIPD

Ciprian has been working in HR and business operations for over 10 years driving organisational change and transformation across both the private and third sector. Currently, he’s leading on a portfolio of interventions focused on CIPD London region as well as designing and delivering a series of projects and programmes supporting the CIPD’s branch network to create local communities of practice and thought for people working in HR, L&D and OD across the UK.

Ciprian is one of the founders of the LGBT+ Network at CIPD, the first-ever employee network group as well as co-chairing it at the moment and raising awareness, engaging stakeholders and driving change in the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging area. He has completed the CIPD intermediate diploma in HR management and a CIPD accredited advanced level Masters in Human Resource Development and Consultancy from Birkbeck, University of London.

Joanne Lockwood - Inclusion & Belonging Specialist, Founder and CEO of SEE Change Happen

Joanne Lockwood is the founder and CEO of SEE Change Happen, an Equality Diversity & Inclusion Practice specialising in providing Transgender Awareness and support to organisations and businesses. Her mantra is Smile, Engage and Educate and she passionately believes that “people are people” and, no matter who they are, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Coronavirus and attending events

At present, our activities will continue to take place as scheduled unless you receive notification otherwise. However, if you have recently travelled from a region that has been identified as high risk, we would be grateful if you did not attend and we will issue a cancellation and full refund if you have paid to attend. If you are unable to travel to the event due to a company travel ban enforced by your employer, or if you are required to self-isolate based on guidance issued by Government, you may request a cancellation and refund before the event takes place.

Cancellations and Refunds Policy

If you are unable to attend an event please give at least 1 working day notice and we will be happy to refund 100% of your booking fee or book you on to a subsequent event to the same value. Cancellations received after this time will be non-transferable and non-refundable.

Professional photography and video production may be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
