The aim of this event is to celebrate LGBT History Month 2020.
LGBT History Month is a month-long annual event that celebrates the history and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people every February in the United Kingdom.
The theme for this year’s celebration is poetry, prose and plays, and to acknowledge this the council will be holding a special “lunch and learn” event on 25th February 2020 to discuss the children’s books that look at different types of families and that have been so much in the news over the last few months.
Dr Ruth Wilson a former teacher and chair of X2Y LGBT+ Youth Group will speak and bring along copies of the books that have sparked important issues for a city looking to embrace its LGBT+ and wider diversity in schools and beyond.
The program is for the Lunch hour only.
