If you moved to the University of Edinburgh for study or work, this is for YOU. Staff Pride Network & PrideSoc have partnered with OurStory Scotland to record our stories and experiences, good or bad, of coming to Edinburgh. How did you imagine it would be, and how does the reality compare with your expectations? How different is it if you are coming from overseas or from the Highlands?
OurStory Scotland is a national LGBT+ charity dedicated to collecting, archiving and presenting the life stories of the LGBT+ community in Scotland. The theme of ‘Coming in’ explores the idea that sometimes a new start in a new place enables people to come out and express themselves more freely however sometimes it can be the reverse. The recording will give participants the chance to discuss their move and detail their experiences as a member of the LGBT+ community.
Places are limited due to recording requirements but if capacity is exceeded please join the waitlist and we will attempt to increase capacity or run more sessions. Those who share their stories will have their voices recorded and archived at the National Library of Scotland. Recordings can be made anonymously; contributors are welcome to use a pseudonym.
This venue is fully accessible, as with all Staff Pride Network events. Staff Pride Network and EUSA Safe Space Policies will apply.
