Get On the Stage is an open mic based around uplifting and centering the voices of Queer/Trans People of Color, Trans, Two Spirit, Gender Non-Conforming, Non-Binary, Intersex and anyone who falls between the margins of these Western labels. Speakers can bring poems, prose, music, stand-up and spoken word of any kind.

Signups onsite start at 7 PM.

Cis white folks are prohibited from participating but are encouraged to attend to support and help boost the voices of marginalized speakers. 

*Attendance is not limited by the amount of tickets listed on Eventbrite, registering gives a way for speakers to contact the organizer or vice-versa and to add additional information, if necessary. This is a free event open to anyone visiting Bluestockings.

**By registering to speak at this event, you agree to Bluestocking's event policy regarding “trigger warnings” before presenting emotionally triggering materials. A standard trigger warning consists of an identification of the upcoming material as potentially triggering, followed by a brief categorization of the subject matter (e.g., “trigger warning: sexual violence against women,” or “trigger warning: child abuse”).

If you are concerned about the tone of your piece being, making a statemement to the audience ahead of time is a great way to clear up confusion and make sure that no one feels disrespected for their performance. This is not intended to censor presenters or deter them from sharing explicit or potentially triggering material, but to provide fair warning to those who need it, in order to remain a safe and welcoming space.

Accessibility Information: Bluestockings is wheelchair accessible, with no steps or platforms, and wide aisles between shelves. While we make every effort to remain ADA compliant, our bathroom is not wheelchair accessible. There is a Starbucks two short blocks down the street with an accessible bathroom (at Allen and Delancey).

Metered street parking is readily available in the blocks surrounding Bluestockings. Bluestockings is not a scent-free space, but we encourage visitors to please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes or other scented products (including essential oils) and smoke far away from the entrance to the space.
