For this year's Inclusion and Diversity Week, the University of Salford is partnering with the Faith & Belief Forum to provide a day of events for students and staff on the topic of faith, inclusion and social action. You can sign up to one or combination of events.
Encountering Faiths & Beliefs Workshop
Come along to this interfaith workshop – you will hear personal stories from a panel of speakers from different faiths and beliefs (Muslim, Christian, and Agnostic). This is an opportunity to learn from individuals’ personal experiences of faith, including challenges faced, and ask any questions. This session will be hosted by facilitators and speakers from the Faith & Belief Forum – the session will be a safe space for dialogue and difference.
Time: 11.30-13.00
Location: Lady Hale Buliding, Room G03, PG Suite
LGBT+Faith Workshop
How can we manage some of the challenges that may arise on campus when it comes to LGBT and faith identities? What experiences do LGBT people of faith have, and how can we ensure they are included, welcomed and celebrated in their full identities? These are the questions we will be considering in this introductory training session. This is a perfect training for anyone who hosts groups, members of student societies, or anyone interested in intersectionality. You will get a certificate on completion of this training.
Time: 14.00-16.00
Location: Maxwell Building, Floor 7, Room 714b
Community Consultation with ParliaMentors
You’re invited to join emerging leaders from the University of Salford and University of Manchester, as they share their proposed Social Action Projects. The students have been working in interfaith teams to plan an effective project for the local community. We invite attendees to provide feedback, suggest ideas and signpost the group to relevant local work, as part of a supportive and constructive discussion.
ParliaMentors, winner of UN award for Intercultural Innovation, is a political leadership programme. It supports emerging leaders to create social change in their communities and experience political life through mentoring from MPs.
Time: 18.00-20.00
Location: Chapman Building, Lecture Theatre 6
