When we are thinking about LGBT+ role models, we often turn to actors, musicians and athletes. Rarely are people working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) mentioned as role models. This is reflected on Wikipedia, where are only 9 living LGBT+ scientists from the UK with a biography.

We are organizing an LGBT+-themed Wikipedia edit-a-thon, where we aim to change this.We will be learning how to edit and write Wikipedia articles and use these new skills to improve the representation of LGBT+ scientists (and other minorities) on Wikipedia! We will be joined by Wikimedian at the Wellcome Collection, Alice White, and comedian, PhD student and podcaster, Cerys Bradley.

The event will be held in Brighton, but exact location is TBC.

Expected Behavior:

- Treat everyone at the event with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
- Be mindful of our surroundings and your fellow participants. Alert the event organisers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
- Respect the rules and policies of the venue.
- Request permission from speakers and attendees before recording or taking photographs. 
- We will have pronoun badges available, but attendees are free to chose whether they want to wear one. Nevertheless make sure to use the correct pronouns and name and when speaking to/about someone.

Unacceptable Behavior:

It is important that our meeting be a place where no attendee or staff is ever belittled, criticized or made to feel unsafe. The following behavior will not be tolerated:

- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Physical, written, or verbal abuse of any attendee or speaker.
- Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, threatening or stalking any attendee or speaker.
