Providing care for special populations has been a challenge in the past. However, with emerging and innovative strategies, we have the necessary tools to provide comprehensive and practical services to people who identify as LGBT+. During this symposium, we will focus on the culture, medical needs, and treatment guidance for persons who may be at substantial risk for HIV and other STDs. We will explore sexual behavior that could potentially put someone as risk and also culturally appropriate engagement with LGBT+ people in clinical settings.
Objectives:
Explore the unique culture, HIV medical needs, and treatment guidance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals
Explore options for clinical settings to provide culturally appropriate engagement with LGBT+ individuals
Provide guidance on creating a “safe space” and creating culturally appropriate clinical infrastructures for LGBT+ individuals
