LGBT - Summer Camp 2019 - MORE INFO
Disclaimer:
This event has been approved by the York LGBT Forum but is not run by the York LGBT Forum. It is a private event set up by a York LGBT Forum member (S'an Yates) for the LGBT members of the Forum, the LGBT community and their supporters/allies.
As our yearly LGBT camps are growing each year (Yay!), you’re invited to join us at The “LGBT Camp 2019” for a weekend - Friday 16th to Sunday 18th August, at “Menagerie Glade” (just outside Escrick, York).
This event has been created for a gathering of like-minded people to get together and relax (especially if you have the camping bug or just nuts and want to have a go… yay), and be themselves in a safe environment. If you’ve been before, welcome back and catch up with friends, or if not, please come and join us. Let’s celebrate all the differences and expressions of such a diverse group of peeps, whilst coming together to share, give support on LGBT issues and have fun :)
The dates also do NOT clash with other LGBT Events/Camps of the north, mainly PRIDE; so hopefully, peeps can make it, yay :-)
Official stuff:
£8 per person per night with NPNP (No Payment No Pitch) or £15 for two nights (Fri and Sat). It’ll fill up quickly (got bookings/payments already), so book asap to secure a place. Youngsters, £5 per night. Dogs, free. Any queries, please ask.
Pay: either cash with receipt in person (but please message me (S'ana Yates) and let me know), I'll be at the Forum meetings, with the last one before the event, 8th August). Or for PayPal payments please use this email: [email protected] and put “LGBT Camp 2019” and your NAME in the description/note box.
DEADLINE - Monday 12th August 2019 so we can organise and confirm our camp. Thanks :)
Any problems please let me know.
Summary of the weekend:
Arrive Friday to set up your pitch, share in the festivities (we’ll need to provide and share our gifts/skills, so if you play an instrument that’ll be a great contribution around the camp fire, or help pitching tents.. usually a laugh); enjoy the main Saturday day and evening celebrations/BBQ, and then into Sunday, to leisurely pack up to be home, ready for the following week. It’s child/family friendly too (with consideration for others please) so please message here or email [email protected] to confirm your booking.
Day trippers are also welcome (just let me know, but you can pay on the day) with a donation of £5+ per person, thanks; as Davy (who runs the glade and is very Eco-aware) needs to look after the land and the upkeep of the site for future events xox
Details:
Tent area provided to pitch
Large communal Dome tent (sleeps 4, possibly 5) if you don't have one and don't mind sharing – bring your bedding.
Communal kitchen with sink, gas hob and bake oven - cook your own or share food
Eco-loos provided with an open sink area for washing (There’s also an open shower.. but good luck with that one!)
Electricity - Davy will provide if needed (charging mobile phones).
Communal fire area – but we will need to provide our own wood – comment on the thread if you can help.
Map, FAQ, etc will be put up soon as a file that can be printed out for reference.
As there’s a lot to organise, if anyone can offer lifts (and/or from the Escrick bus stop) this will help those who don’t have a car/limited funds. Also, skills-sharing would be fab (First Aider, putting up tents, cooking, lifts) as I like to think that if we all contribute a bit, the whole LGBT community benefits. Please comment below. Thank you!
Finally:
If you are interested, please comment below to book your place, or pm me if you prefer (S'ana Yates). Any ideas, questions or stuff I’ve forgotten: email/message or comment on this Event page so we do not congest the main LGBT Forum thread, thanks.
