For many of us that identify as LGBT+, growing up without role models in books, plays, on TV and in film was very challenging. Fortunately, times have changed, and representation is getting better, and many of us are now including these role models in our own writing.

This workshop will open with a 20 minute discussion around LGBT+ representation in TV, film, theatre and books, exploring stereotypes, dominant narratives and examples of where lesser-heard voices are breaking through.

The latter part of the workshop aims to support you to launch or work on your own writing project, and troubleshoot any areas that have been holding you back, whether it's funding, ideas, motivation, time or imposter syndrome. The world definitely needs to hear your voice, and hopefully this workshop will support you in taking a few steps towards your goal.

In order to ensure participants get the most out of this workshop, we have limited it to 10 spaces, on a first come first serve basis.

This workshop is targeting the LGBT+ community, but also welcomes non LGBT+ writers keen to write LGBT+ characters in their work who may want to research this area further prior to doing so.

There are a few assisted spaces on this workshop for people who the fee may act as a barrier. Please email Amie directly to book one of these spaces. This is an inclusive event and we will take every step to ensure you have the best possible experience, including asking particpants to wear name and pronoun badges.
