LGBTQ+ Awareness - Artist Training supported by Newcastle City Council Arts Development team.
Thursday 9th January, 17:00 - 19:00pm
Bewick 1, Newcastle City Library, NE1 8AX
Curious Arts' LGBTQ+ Awareness - Artist Training was developed in order to ensure progression and excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion in arts practice in the North East. In particular, those actively working with LGBTQ+ artists, audiences, participants and young people.
Following a pilot training programme with Seven Stories and Dance City, this introductory two hour session will raise awareness and increase confidence around inclusive language, engaging with LGBTQ+ participants/audiences and understanding the intersectionality of the LGBTQ+ community with some judgement-free question and answer time.
Informed by equality and diversity legislation, engage in activities, presentations and scenarios exploring how we can be more LGBTQ+ aware.
This training has been devised and informed by Barry Priest (Greater Manchester LGBTQ Arts and Culture Network, Queer Arts North), Lewis Latimer (Curious Arts) and Phil Douglas (Curious Arts)
Thursday 9th January's training session is suitable for independant artists and small organisations based/making work in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Training is free to attend, but please register your place.
Supported by Newcastle City Council, Newcastle City Library, LGBT Consortium and Arts Council England.
