I’m confused

My name is Taran. I lead on diversity and inclusion within DWP Digital Group.

OK, I’m always one to be honest...and…I’m confused.

Supporting LGBTQ+ employees is so high on my agenda and an area in which I am very experienced. However, I’m still confused.

After speaking to other diversity and inclusion professionals, I’ve come to learn…they are all equally confused.

Where are we heading?

The area of confusion I’m talking about is future of gender fluidity. Where are we actually heading?

We are whole heartedly committed to support our non-binary and trans people. We are all making changes to our workplaces, attitudes, language, policies, technologies...but are we clear about what we’re trying to achieve?

What does the world look like 20 years from now in terms of gender fluidity and identity in our culture?

Our event

This event is about taking a step back, using our experience and minds to try and shape a view of what this will actually look like.

We’ll be tackling cultural themes such as fashion, the workplace, the birth of children, identification and more. We’ll split into groups and work to identify an idea or vision of what these aspects of life will look like in relation to gender identity.

I know this will not be set in stone and things will change organically as time moves on, but this will give us some clarity that we will all be working towards a similar goal.

And by the end of the session, we’ll hopefully be able to combine these ideas in order to shape ‘the future of gender as we see it’.

We will also have talks and input from the Vice Chair of Sparkle and a renowned UK Drag Artist.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Sparkle.
