The LSBU Occupational Therapy Society are very pleased to welcome back Rebecca Swenson to deliver her Sexuality, gender and occupational therapy talk which sold out the previous lecture.
The talk will explore how the areas of gender and sexuality relate to occupational therapy practice. Drawing upon occupational science and cultural theories, the relationship between sexuality, gender expression and occupational engagement will be discussed. Studies suggest that gaps in knowledge of healthcare professionals in working with LGBT+ people can result in discrimination and marginalisation. Rebecca will be discussing inclusive practice in working with those from the LGBT+ communities.
Rebecca Swenson is a lecturer in Occupational Therapy at London South Bank University. She is currently undertaking UKOTRF funded research into the lived experience of those who define as trans, non-binary or genderqueer, exploring the relationship between occupational engagement and identity expression.
Please come and join us for what will undoubtedly be a thought provoking and deeply interesting talk.
