Representatives of various faiths will be discussing the legal position and if conflict is inevitable or whether there are ways of working through and resolving it.
Seminar
Venue:The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL
Cost:Free event

Overview
SRA competence: C2 and C3
What is the issue? How can the law help? Working together for equality.
All too often it is assumed that either a person's faith or their support for LGBT+ rights must take precedence over the other. The interaction between the two can be especially problematic given that religion/belief and sexual orientation are both protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. Join us for a discussion considering the legal position and if this competition is inevitable or whether there are ways of working through and resolving it.
To mark Inter Faith Week, Daniel Gerring (partner, Travers Smith and member, Law Society's LGBT+ Lawyers Division committee) will chair a panel of lawyers and non-lawyers from various faiths.
