Resilience: Private Struggles and Public Identities

GLADD (The Association of LGBT Doctors and Dentists) is hosting a series of educational events: The GLADD Salon Series.

The GLADD Salon Series events are designed to tackle controversial or less discussed issues in LGBT health, in a transparent and safe manner, with a broad audience of healthcare professionals, whilst being open to the general public.

The second of these events is titled: “Resilience: Private Struggles and Public Identities” and is designed to facilitate discussion of the mental health of LGBT people, specifically in relation to institutionalised bi/homo/trans-phobia and the importance of developing a strong sense of self as a part of one's individual resilience.

Presentation topics include:

- Understanding the Extent of Distress - Prof Michael King, University College London

- Coming Out: The Importance of Building an Integrated Sense of Identity - Dr Victoria Holt, Pink Therapy

- The Role of Internalised Homophobia in Addiction - Mr Simon Marks, London Friend

There will be opportunity for attendees to discuss the issues raised, and to inform GLADD's future work on these issues.

A certificate of attendance will be provided. Light refreshments will be provided.

Detailed directions to the venue are provided on the confirmation email.
