LGBTQ+ Topics in the Library of Congress, Manuscript Division

Join Manuscript Reference Librarian Loretta Deaver for an overview of materials relating to LGBTQ+ topics in the Manuscript Division collections. Highlights include personal papers of prominent figures such as Frank Kameny, Walt Whitman, Lilli Vincenz, and Truman Capote; pertinent records of organizations such as the American Psychological Association, League of Women Voters, and NAACP; and collections which include relevant material on certain subjects, such as Supreme Court decisions, legal matters, and HIV/AIDS. The session includes general information on conducting research in the Manuscript Reading Room and time for Q&A about research strategies or steps on specific research projects. All researchers are welcome.

Please note that the maximum class size is 30 researchers unless otherwise indicated.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to the orientation. Seating is available on a first-come basis. Registration does not guarantee entry after the orientation start time.
