You're invited to an employability skills day in London specifically for LGBT+ university students, courtesy of global law firm Shearman & Sterlingand the award-winning LGBT+ young people's charity Just Like Us.

Shearman & Sterling LLP recognises that getting started in work is hard, often moreso for LGBT+ graduates. They're putting forward their best LGBT+ professionals in a day geared towards getting LGBT+ students successfully onto the career ladder, whichever sector you decide to go into.

During the day, you'll:

•    Learn how to build your 'personal brand' to spark more interest amongst employers
•    Build your job application skills and interview techniques
•    Attend a Q&A on career advancement as an LGBT+ worker
•    Make contacts with Shearman & Sterling staff over free lunch and drinks
•    Get a chance to be mentored by Shearman & Sterling staff as part of a year-long informal buddying scheme

Why is Shearman & Sterling LLP offering this?

Shearman & Sterling LLP is a partner of the LGBT+ young people's charity Just Like Us, which works for a world where young LGBT+ people live awesome lives. We both know that LGBT+ students can find it tougher to get into the workplace, and many openly LGBT+ students go back into the closet at work.

Who can attend?

This day is for 15 LGBT+ university students at Durham University, University College London, London School of Economics and King's College London. We especially encourage our own LGBT+ ambassadors to sign up.

Is it free to attend?

Yes. This includes lunch on arrival, and snacks and drinks throughout the day.

Any attendees who are Just Like Us ambassasdors from Durham or London will have their travel expenses reimbursed too - we know it's an expensive return journey.
