This one-day training aims to support participants to increase understanding and confidence around LGBT+ terminology, definitions and experience. The course will address prejudice and discrimination and enable participants to develop strategies
to address these and to support and include LGBT+ young people in their services.
By the end of the training participants will have gained knowledge and understanding of:
Attitudes towards LGBT+ young people
Stereotypes, judgements and assumptions around sexuality and gender identity
The issues affecting LGBT+ young people and how to support them
Definitions and terminology
Practical skills to support a young person with disclosure
How to develop professional practice to ensure LGBT+ inclusivity
Ways to challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in youth settings
