On 31 October 2018, colleagues from our LGBT+ network will be hosting a continuous professional development (CPD) session at Redgrave Court, Bootle. The event take place in the Auditorium between 10am and 1pm, with a refreshment break in between.
Do you have LGBT+ friends or family? Do you manage LGBT+ staff? (clue: you might not know!) Do you know how their experiences at work affect them? What steps could we take to better support them in the workplace?
During the event, we'll host a number of guest speakers, who'll focus on how non-LGBT+ colleagues and managers can better support LGBT+ individuals in the workplace. Stonewall, the leading global LGBT+ charity, will be delivering a presentation session which is sure to be an eye opener, with topics including bullying vs banter, putting unconscious bias theory into practice, and how to become an LGBT+ ally. The day will also include stories from a number of guest speakers discussing their career experiences, struggles and successes as members of the LGBT+ community.
A number of senior leaders from both our organisation and Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) will be in attendance and will also be learning about how to affect change in their organisations to make them a more inclusive place to work. There'll also be Trade Union representation and a charity cake sale.
