“Inclusion through education” specialist Shoutout will lead a workshop to enhance our understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences and understand how small things can make a big difference for LGBTQ+ members.

This is a great opportunity for those unfamiliar with theories on gender and sexuality or LGBTQ+ terminologies to ask questions in an open and respectful environment.

We’ll be covering the topics our community really want to learn about including:

The role of Allies: What we do and why it matters - A brief overview of theories which can inform our actions.

Identity: What are the most important parts of our identity, and why do they matter?

Inclusive language: What do all the letters mean?!

Incorporating different voices: Small changes that have a huge impact.

This community workshop is tailored to enhance our understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences. This understanding provides the foundation for us to foster an inclusive culture in our workplace, enabling all our community members to feel welcome and perform to their best ability.

The workshop will be facilitated by Shoutout’s Director Aifric Ní Chríodáin and Bella Fitzpatrick

Aifric Ní Chríodáin | Deputy Executive Director at Shoutout

Aifric is a feminist LGBTQIA+ activist working in education. She’s been working with ShoutOut since 2013 as a volunteer and designer and is currently serving as Managing Director of the organisation. ShoutOut is an all-island charity providing educational workshops on LGBTQIA+ identity and inclusion to schools, workplaces, teachers and social workers.

Bella Fitzpatrick | Executive Director at Shoutout

Bella FitzPatrick is passionate about LGBTQIA+, feminist issues and education. She’s been part of the ShoutOut team for nearly 4 years, where she is currently serving as Executive Director. In 2019, during a sabbatical, she took the position of Researcher and Project Coordinator with OutRight Action International, an organization that researches, documents and advances human rights for LGBTQIA+ people around the world.
