Trans Media Fashion - A PAPER GARMENT CREATION CLASS

Trans Media Fashion is a social fashion installment to support our Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Community. Trans Media Fashion entered a dream in fall of 2017 and woke up the dreamer around 2:45am and to the three words, Trans, Media Fashion. The dreamer texted himself to keep note of these three words. The next morning, the text read Trans Media and Fashion...and the energy of these words brought the beauty of Trans throught Media (camera, lens, media, publications, online) in Fashion as a positive, healthy and strong community believing in self identity to sustain the current political climate.

The 1st installment of Trans Media Fashion (The fashion show) was kicked off in the spring of April 29th 2018 at EvolveHer (A creative work & event space evolving the way women connect, learn & grow) and with Howard Brown Health providing Chicago's beautiful trans and gender non-confirming models to walk in a fashion show during Chicago Fashion Week powered by FashionBar LLC. We had 48 guests attend this show. We followed with our 2nd installment on October 27th 2018 and 3rd installment on April 4th, 2019 with footage captured by reporter and journelist Kathleen Cohen. Our 4th installment of Trans Media Fashion was completed on October 10th 2019 with over 300 guests at Water Tower Place on Chicago's Manificant Mile!

After 4 successiful installments of Trans Media Fashion during Chicago Fashion Week Powered by FashionBar Chicago. FashionBar Chicago is excited to announce Trans Media Fashion - The PAPER GARMENT creation class which is a 8 week art program where resigtered students will use media such as newspapers, publications, and other materials to construct fashion garments. The participants’ garments will then be modeled by trans and gender non-conforming adults/youth in a fashion show at the end of the term to help promote and ensure a strong positive presence for the growing LGBT, specifically Chicago’s transgender and gender non-confirming , community. This class is in collaboration with FashionBar and Howard Brown Health as we believe identity requires wellness (mental, spirital, emotional etc..) to sustain life with beauty and fashion aiding in the naviation of our daily life in today's world!

Registered students will work with FashionBar Chicago to create these paper garments as the final looks will be showcased during The Pride Ball, during Chicago's Pride Month June 2020!
