TransLucent: Spiritual Care for Trans* Families

TransLucent is a one-day conference for clergy, seminarians, and others who minister to the spiritual well-being of trans* individuals and their families. It will include presentations, panels, Q&A, and suggested resources for further study. Speakers include theologians, psychologists, artists, activists, and parents who will offer practical tools, professional expertise, and personal wisdom to those who wish to grow in understanding both as spiritual caregivers and advocates for the justice, dignity, and safety of our transgender and gender non-conforming neighbors and their families.

TransLucent is a one-day conference taking place on Friday, October 26th from 9:45 am - 5:00 pm. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Lunch is provided.

CONFERENCE SPEAKERS:

Dr. Lou Himes, clinical psychologist, founder of QuIPP (Queer Identities Psychology Partnership).

Joan Rater, television writer and producer (Grey’s Anatomy, Madame Secretary), and parent of a transgender child.

Austen Hartke, author of Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians.

Rabbi Jo Hirschman, certified CPE educator who oversees spiritual care at the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Barbara E. Warren, director of LGBT Programs and Policies in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at Mount Sinai Health System.
