The Yorkshire Ambulance LGBT Network would like to invite staff to attend a development day which will focus on what we want to achieve in 2019, and how we can provide support to our patients and staff.
Some of the recent activities of the Yorkshire Ambulance LGBT Network have been to take part in York Pride, helped to devise a new resource to support ambulance staff dealing with trans people and also taken a full part in the third National Ambulance LGBT Network Conference.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service is part of the National Ambulance LGBT Network, which is working with all Trust’s to develop robust support facilities for staff and ensure LGBT patients receive the care they need. The National Network’s ‘Let’s Get Better Together’ Programme comprises ten key developments and this day will focus on areas Yorkshire can improve on. The National Emergency Service Museum
The National Emergency Services Museum is based in Sheffield. It originally opened in 1984 as the Sheffield Fire and Police Museum, and was given its present name in 2014.
The museum is home to a large and increasing number of former emergency service vehicles and extensive archives. Several old ambulances from Yorkshire are now housed at the museum including an old City of Sheffield vehicle in its original dark blue livery and wooden framed stretchers. An 1980s Ford ambulance with Hanlon body would have operated in West Yorkshire. This vehicle is a regular at public engagements including many arranged by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Trip Advisor rates the museum as 4.5 stars our of a possible 5, with 63% of visitors describing the museum as excellent. You can find more information about the museum and its collection of vehicles at www.emergencymuseum.org.uk.
