Frontier is an Economic Consultancy with a difference. From day one our goal was simple – to create a company that approached economics with imagination. Founded in 1999, we are entirely employee-owned so everyone contributes to the culture and success. Our Economists work on the most topical issues affecting business and society. As the world evolves around us, the problems we solve change constantly. Our work is thought provoking, enables change and has a real world impact on major companies, regulatory bodies and public policy decisions. We help our clients make objective informed decisions that keep them ahead of the game. Our Values

When Frontier Economics was founded, a set of values were agreed that would shape the company and the way it works. Those values are summarised in the four words:

• Interesting

• Open

• Fun

• Profitable

These values represent what we want working life at Frontier to be. That means how we want our project work and client relationships to be, how we want our working relationships within the company to be, and what we should look for when considering any changes that are made to the company. They are important because Frontier is a people business – the human capital in the firm is its most important asset. The point of the values is to ensure that as that human capital we are happy and that the company has a culture that is sustainable across multiple offices and practices. Getting this right should make Frontier a great place to work and can be a real source of competitive advantage both in the consulting market and our recruitment market.

Day-to-day the values can help us to:

• frame our management choices, and clarify management decisions;

• define what we want from our working lives and check if we’re achieving it;

• define our aspirations for the firm and the directions we take; and

• hold the business together as we grow and diversify.

In everything we do, there are natural trade-offs between the values. Some projects are more profitable and less fun. Some are interesting but can’t be widely discussed. The point is that the values highlight these trades-offs, and help us think about whether we’re getting the balance right.

Now one of the largest economic consultancies in Europe, we started Frontier Economics in 1999 wanting to do things differently. Owned entirely by our staff, our business attracts the best people and the most interesting work. Our principles remain. Our clients remain happy.

Frontier’s LGBTQ+ network, Spectrum, has been set up in 2018, with the aim of raising LGBTQ+ visibility within the company and providing a forum open to LGBTQ+ staff and allies. Since its creation, Spectrum has hosted numerous events all year round to promote LGBTQ+ culture and discuss issues that are close to the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to its role of raising awareness of LGBTQ+ culture, Spectrum is active in promoting positive change within the company with the goal of creating an environment where everyone is encouraged to bring their whole self to work.
