About Equal
Equal is a worldwide membership network of LGBTQ+ colleagues—organized locally and regionally—dedicated to creating an environment where all can develop and contribute to their full potential, building a supportive network of allies and alumni, and working towards enduring change in the LGBTQ+ community outside of McKinsey. Equal was founded in 1995 and is one of our fastest-growing groups, now comprising thousands of LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies worldwide.
We realize that our colleagues may be at different points in their own personal journeys, so Equal members can classify their membership status to reflect their desired level of participation (e.g., fully out to all colleagues, out to Equal only, not out but receive information about Equal events and milestones).
Equal seeks to promote an inclusive environment for all colleagues. Mentorship and conversations with our openly LGBTQ+ senior leaders in offices across the globe positively impact the growth of all our colleagues. We convene the global Equal network every 18-24 months for a conference that includes inspirational speakers, development opportunities, and fun. In between, many regions choose to host their own Equal summits.
